AndersBrief

The world famous photographer Anders Petersen has run workshops in Finland at many occasions. The participants in the 2003 workshop got so inspired that they decided to continue to work togther and try to use something of what Anders Petersen had been teaching. Also former workshop participants were invited to take part.

It all ended up in an Exhbition called "R e l a t i o n". This was exhibited in two places in Helsinki in 2004. In the later exhibition there were about 40 photos by 14 photographers. The co-operation felt good and a new theme "N o t y e t 1 8" was chosen. The exhibition took place in two places in Helsinki in the autumn 2005. The next theme was thought to be the opposite of youth so it was called "S e e t h e l i f e b e h i n d t h e f a c e" . However, when working on the subject we found that it did not necessarily exclude any ages. The exhibition was arranged in the Vallila library in November 2006 with six photographers represented. A follow up will take place in Stoa, East Centre in Helsinki in January 2007.

There seems to be still steam in the engine and a new theme will soon be selected for 7th exhibition in autumn 2007. In the last exhibition we afterwards noticed that our photos were what Anders Petersen would have called "nice" or "very nice" which means that they lack the real kick. Maybe the next exhibition can bring us back closer to the original visions we had just after the workshop ...
